Israel: Pfizer vaccine reduces by 2x-3x the chance of serious illness in age 70–79 Covid patients (3x for healthy people, 2x for unhealthy people with co-morbidities).
Vaccinated age 70–79: 5.7% healthy (of 725 people) developed serious illness 11% unhealthy (of 727)
Unvaccinated age 70-79: 17.1% healthy (of 3,053) developed serious illness 20.6% unhealthy (of 2,551)
Among vaccinated people aged 70 to 79, for instance, serious illness developed in 5.7 percent of the 725 patients with no preexisting conditions and 11 percent of the 727 patients who did have preexisting conditions. Among unvaccinated patients of the same age, in contrast, serious illness developed in 17.1 percent of the 3,053 patients with no preexisting conditions and 20.6 percent of the 2,551 who did have preexisting conditions.
Note: I think these numbers refer to ICU/case, but I am not 100% sure. Isreal “serious illness” = US “ICU” Israel “patient” = US “case” Every country uses slightly different language (e.g. WHO “severe” is not US CDC “severe”).
