In my Opinion too, he is one of the best External Affairs Minister India has ever had. This man, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, 68 (as of 2022) , known for his skillful diplomacy, tough negotiating tactics and strategic vision.
He knows his work inside out. He is a very bold person and that we have seen in many of his speeches and debates which were taken by the western media.
He positioned India's position really well and was stick to its policy of strategic autonomy.
He has deep familiarity with the “great powers” that India attempts to balance- U.S., China, Russia, and Japan.
Let me give you a example from Today,
As now USA has signed a deal to upgrade fleet of F-16 fighter jets of Pakistan a.k.a The Terror state. As a normal response which was most expected, India was not at all happy with this and they expressed their concerns openly with the world but the deal didn't stop.
So, now Dr. S. Jaishankar was leading India on the tour of recent meeting of United Nations General Assembly - UNGA in New York, USA on a 10 day trip. He was having an interaction with people of the Indian diaspora in Washington when he was asked a question about United States decision to send the F-16 package to Pakistan.
He responded,
“For someone to say I am doing this(F-16 upgradation sale to 🇵🇰) bcz it is all counter-terrorism content and so when you are talking of an aircraft like F-16 where everybody knows, you know where they are deployed and their use. You are not fooling anybody"
He said this statement boldly and didn't fear of USA because he wasn't saying anything wrong, he was stating the facts and what was in front. As we all know that west can't digest the fact that India isn't following it's lead but they need India too as to maintain balance of power in South Asian region and as a counter to China in Indo pacific.
Like this response many times Dr. Jaishankar showed west a tough stand and this will definitely explain you why he's one of the best and why whole world admire his as a diplomat who works and takes decisions as per his nation's national interests
a true diplomat
