Navjot Singh Sidhu together with his politician wife are twosome controversial and ambitious politicians. He has little commitments to ideology. Their love for position of power is well known. While in BJP, they wanted to become ministers, at least one of them. When that was not forthcoming, they sabotaged the election of Arun Jaitley. After leaving BJP and hobnobbing with both AAP and Congress, they joined Congress as that was party in power and a ministership was promised.
However, Sidhus were not satisfied with that and plotted from day one to become Chief Minister. In this plan of Sidhus, Gandhi siblings were hand in glove as they wanted strongman Captain Amarinder Singh out as he was not a sycophant and was to be taught a lesson. However, the strong opposition of Captain to Sidhu becoming the Chief Minister has dampened the plan of Sidhus. He is mighty unhappy that he has no remote control over the Chief minister and his say was not final in appointment of ministers and allocation of their portfolios. Second, he has seen the writing on the wall.
ABC TV and C Voter survey rules out the return of Congress to power when elections take place early next year. On the other hand, AAP has good chance of making it big in Punjab. Hence, the unhappy Sidhu resigns attributing imaginary compromise and I will not be surprised if he will desert the sinking boat of Congress to join AAP.
