I want to see Maa Durga’s face before I see these hoardings! Dusshera festival is ongoing and it’s Durga Puja and Kolkata is all lit up. But what is heart-breaking is to see the city of Kolkata turn into a sea of commercial flex banners on Pujo!
They cover almost every inch of it. Not only are these banners a safety concern for citizens, but they also harm the environment too. Hundreds have to stay in darkness for days behind them, some can’t even open their windows. Please save Kolkata from this pollution! We at Mumbai Multimedia Studio appeal to Mamata's Government to ensure proper use and disposal of flex banners.
These flex banners are not just a visual nuisance but can be hazardous too. What if there is a fire or an emergency? Join our cause and tell the organisers that these large hoardings are blocking addresses, signages and even wind flow.
The government had recently issued a notification restricting flex banners below 100 microns. But it seems most organisers are flouting the norms - the government will have to enforce guidelines on the use and disposal of flex banners to avoid any untoward incident.
