If you know how to suffer, you suffer less - Thich Naht Hanh
If you don't want to suffer, you suffer more . When you understand suffering you become compassionate. Those who don't understand suffering have no compassion either towards self or to others.
Suffering is like being in the RING & taking a beating.
It slowly starts to break you down. You can only escape it if you throw in the towel, keep going & get knocked off or fight it & emerge.
My reactions to suffering was mostly anger. Anger towards self which led to mental depression. Anger towards others by blaming others or finding faults in them.
Eating is one of the ways we reduce suffering!
We eat to feel better this helps reduce our suffering. Those who eat more feel they are suffering more. Eating more is also greed which makes us suffer even more.
Consuming thoughts is thinking. It only increases suffering by living in the past or future.
Crying is a wonderful way to deal with suffering.
But there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer.” - Viktor Frankl
It is living in the moment & having empathy towards self. Crying is a sign of courage & strength. Those who cry alone lack the courage.
Forgive & Forget is a beautiful way to reduce suffering. It is also living in the moment. I now try to forget everything after the moment passes away. I also try to forgive myself. This is tough & I struggle here. When I forgive myself it gives me courage to forgive others. When I am unable to forgive I become a coward.
We have to be worthy of your suffering. We can remove our suffering by being self aware. Happiness cannot be without suffering. Suffering cannot exist without happiness. Both coexist and so can we exist in this dichotomy.
