So, after a wait for 4 long years, finally there's something for Shah Rukh Khan fans to celebrate as his new film, Pathaan hit the theatres on the 25th the month. Prior to watching the movie, I had mixed feelings about the film. The teaser was boring, but the trailer was brilliant. The main plot behind the film was a nice one but we have seen tons of movies being made around the same theme — a villain pose threat to India and the hero fights him, fails his plan and saves the country. Pathaan was the same. John Abraham, an ex-Indian army officer turned rogue and is seeking revenge against India. Shah Rukh Khan, a true patriot of the land, forms a team but is the only man seen fighting and defeats him at the end. There were a few twists and turns in the movie, however, which makes it worthy of a watch. The role of Deepika Padukone, for example, is a tricky one. You wouldn't be able to guess which side she is on.
The use of a hologram projector is something I am seeing for the first time in a movie — I might be wrong here also, because it isn't a groundbreaking technology anymore which isn't readily available. The movie has a lot of fight sequences, by the way, and after one point, it becomes boring to watch the two indulge in bare-hand fighting. One is punching the other, the other is kicking him back. The fight scenes could have been improvised. By the way, a Spy Universe is being formed and you get to see a cameo appearance of another spy. Let's save it for the movie and not give away the spoilers. Overall, if you are a Shah Rukh fan, you would obviously go to the theatres to watch the film. Otherwise, there isn't anything that would drive the audience to the theatres. It is an average film, to be honest, and if you wait for its OTT release, that would be better than spending 300 rupees on the ticket, unless, of course, you want to see King Khan on the big screen after four years or a Bhai fan! *Wink Wink*
