1. Interviewer sells the role/org 2. Candidate sells his/her skills 3. Interviewer judges the candidate 4. Both are lying
Interviews are interesting conversations.
The interviewer wants to sell the role & organisation well to the candidate so that if he/she is good she should become interested & join.
The candidate is trying hard to sell his/her skills so that he/she gets the job offer.
The interviewer judges the candidate to see if it will work. He/she has to make a judgement whether the candidate is good or not. Human judgement may be flawed most of the time Which is why many times good candidates get rejected and bad candidates get hired.
Many times both may be lying, the reality comes out only after the candidate joins. The candidate may make false promises regarding his/her skills. The interviewer may also make false promises about the candidates future career in the organisation.
