There was a Modi Modi Modi wave in 2014 & Modi Tsunami in 2019.
There has been only one PM in India who has won three consecutive elections and he was Pandit Nehru. Indira Gandhi also won 3 Lok Sabha elections but it was not consecutive. India had hardly any strong opposition till the early 1960s but now the situation is different. India has very strong regional strong parties challenging BJP.
It would be interesting to see whether there would be a Modi Wave in 2024 or not. Despite 8 years of anti-incumbency Modi remains the most popular leader in India. The bi-annual Mood of the Nation survey has reaffirmed it time and again. A section of Indians who had supported Modi in 2014 may not be with Modi now but Modi has created a new section of supporters. This is a very interesting strategy to create a new support base to offset the loss in the existing supporter base.
Unless any dramatic thing happens, I don't see a Modi wave or Modi Tsunami in 2024. It's almost impossible to sustain a wave for over a decade. But I also think that Modi's popularity and lack of credible alternatives may still hand a victory to BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
