Yaum E Ashura - The Muslim holy-day is commemorated by different communities in different ways -MMS

What happened on the day of Ashoura, the tenth day of Moharram, in a land called karbala.

It doesn't matter If you're Muslim, non-Muslim, or may be with none reasonably religion, because it's not just a spiritual story. No. it's out and away the foremost catastrophic event that has happens in Islamic history, when the full right stood against the full wrong.

When you start reading about it, it'll not be recorded somewhere in you brain. No. it'll be engraved directly on the wall of your heart and at that time, whenever you hear the name of Hussain (AS), your tears will fall by themselves. that's after you will experience what I call the foremost mysterious feeling within the world, because obviously you're sad but rather than pain, Your heart are going to be stuffed with peace and quietness.

May sound quite exaggerative but if you ask those that come to understand him, they're going to tell you that it's the foremost pure true thing that exist within the world. Every year many of us economize to be ready to hold a ceremony in their own homes or other places on the anniversary of these days. People gather, dress black, cover the town with black flags, feed others, song and postulate him all at once. It is a unique sort of love that has nothing to try and do with one's race or religion. So ensure to return with us.

The caliph (king) of the Muslim community was called Yazid. He was completely corrupt.

During his time slowly the moral fabric of society began to decay as he ruled together with his own interests in mind. People who were displeased him, sent letters to imam Hussain, the grandson of prophet Mohammed, asking him desperately to return to the Kufa and help them because Yazid was getting worse day by day and that they had no leader to try and do something against him. Hussain (as) sent his cousin, Moslem, to Kufa to verify that they realy wanted it.

When Moslem arrived there, an out sized number of individuals welcomed him and pledged allegiance to him. So he immediately sent a letter to imam Hussein and told him that individuals are serious and desirous to rise up to Yazid. When Yazid learned of this, he failed to remain silent. He bought everyone with the promise of plenty of cash and good opportunities, given that they left imam Hussein and joined him. And similar to that, Moslem suddenly found himself alone during a city where everyone wanted to kill him for a prize. He couldn't even rewrite a letter because there was no courier to hold it. They finally found him. He told people to somehow tell imam to not come here, but nobody was curious about paying attention to him. The caliph killed him and threw his body from the roof of the mansion to indicate people what those that dare to oppose him will find yourself with.

On the opposite hand, imam Hussein left his hometown along with his family and a few companions. Among them were his sister, Zeinab, his brother, Abbas, his eldest son, Ali Akbar, his 6-month-old son, Ali Asghar, his nephew, Qasim, and his 3-year-old daughter, Ruqayyah.

Imam Hussein and his 72 companions were on their thanks to Kufa once they were stopped by a part of the Caliph's army, commanded by a person named Hurr. He told Hussein (as): " i've got a mission to require you to the caliph. Why were you visiting Kufa? "

Imam Hussein replied: "I failed to come myself. Your people sent letters and invited me. If the Kufis regret their request, I'll return."

Hurr was unaware of the existence of such correspondence and said that he wasn't among the authors of the letters.

He said:

"I haven't been sent to fight you, if you refuse to return with me, then choose a path which will not take you to Kufa or your hometown. Until I write a letter to the caliph."

The two groups had reached Nineveh when caliph's letter reached Hurr stating that he must be harsh on imam Hussain and his companions and stop them on a land without water, grass and siege. Hurr stopped Imam Hussain's caravan in a very land called Karbala which is now a well known city in Iraq. One of the imam Hussain's companions said:

"I swear by God that it'll be harder for us after this, Now it's easier for us to fight this group [Horr and his allies] than to fight people who follow this group, I swear unaccompanied they're followed by those whom we cannot bear to fight."

Hussain (as) said: "You are right, But I'll not start a war."

Karbala was near two rivers, When the most army ( which had reached over 30,000 people) arrived, its commander ordered to shut the rivers for imam Hussain and his companions and don'tallow them to have access to water. He told imam Hussain: "you must pledge allegiance to Yazid. If you are doing not do so you may be killed right here. you've got no other choice and you'll not return to your own town."

Before the day of Ashura, Hussain (as) visited enemy's army to speak to them persistently. In one in every of his speeches he said:

" O people! You invited us with great enthusiasm and keenness, but after we agreed with you and came to your aid, you drew the sword that was in your hands to defend us, against us?!

To help your enemy?!

So know that they'll not do one fair job to assist you.

God has create this world mortal, nobody will live forever. it'ssort of a temporary house. sort of a carvan serai. give some thought to gattering provisions for your afterlife and don't depend on this world. We are from God and that we will return to him.

You have put us between sword and humiliation. But may the day once we like better to sleep in humiliation be secluded from us.

“death with dignity is healthier than a life with humiliation.”

When Hurr saw that the war would really occur, he visited the most commander (Umar ibn Sa'd) and asked him: "Are you actually visiting fight Hussein, the grandson of your prophet, whose mother is Fatima and father is Ali?"

He replied: " Yes, and that i will launching a war within which amputation of heads and hands be one amongst the best things that happen in it."

Hurr slowly approached Hussein's tents. Someone who saw him told him: "If someone asks me who the bravest man in Kufa is, i'll say that it's you, I've got never seen you prefer this. Why are you shaking?" He replied: “I see myself right between heaven and hell and that i swear to God that if i'm torn to pieces and burned with fire, i will be able to choose nothing but heaven.” Then he visited imam Hussain and asked him to be with them.

At night, Hussein (as) gathered his companions and told them: "I don't think the enemy will give us to any extent further time. Anyone who stays here are killed tomorrow. I take my allegiance from you. you must go and save your lives."

Then he turned off the lights so nobody would be ashamed to go away. But they didn't leave. they said: "may God never bring the day once we be alive and you are doing not be...

IN Conclusion: Many Muslims opt to fast on the day of Ashura, as well as on other days in the month of Muharram, to show thankfulness. Shia Muslims also engage in mourning throughout the month till 40 days..
