The best way to find about a manager is to speak to his/her team. They will tell you the exact story.

Another way to find out about a manager is to speak to his colleagues. However you may find mixed stories here.

You can also find out about a manager by speaking to his/her manager. You will get to hear the other side of the story too

Customers may also tell you the true picture since they are experiencing both the manager & the team regularly.

Good Managers will have everyone saying good things about them though exceptions will be there.
