Changing oneself is tough because there is inertia & discomfort to change. Just like a rubber band that goes back to its old shape so do we back to our comfort zones quickly.
As a student when I tried to change myself it was difficult because I did not understand the process to change. My character was weak, resilience & strength within was little. Hence I could only change for a few days.
As I started to work my ability to change improved. I was able to change for a few weeks and then went back to my old self. It was like I knew what I had to do but I just could not continue. Laziness & procrastination happened.
After working for many years I started to get better at changing myself, now I was able to do it for a month or two and then many times I slipped back.
Once we can do the new behaviour for over a month it slowly starts to become a part of our routine. We slowly transform & the change becomes permanent. For me it takes 100 days to change myself in area when I do that continuously.
