For over a year now, everyone has been obsessive about the nice & great Resignation.
All over the planet, employees are voluntarily (and recently, involuntarily) quitting their jobs to try to to other things. There has been lots of speak about why this can be happening, what happens next, and the way long this trend will last.
But few conversations are about how these people are quitting.
I’m talking about resignation letters.
A beautiful resignation letter could be a balancing act. you wish to use all the correct words. Carefully thank those you almost certainly dislike. Be sufficiently vague about your future plans. Slide in palliative phrases like ‘cheering from the side-lines. Then, there’s the timing of it. do you have to send it before meeting your manager? Or immediately after? And what on earth should the topic line be? Who should air the cc? And more devilishly, who is on the Bcc? Even Google searches aren’t particularly helpful.
Many people still don’t understand the worth of a decent resignation letter, or the harm that a badly written one can do. within the world of tech, which is increasingly connected, and layoffs, which are increasingly common, it probably pays to give organisations on good terms rather than burning bridges behind you.
And the resignation letter is typically the ultimate official communication that an employee has with the organisation. which implies it stays on the records as a permanent snapshot of their experience.
So yes, many important questions.
But guess who has the answer?
