He was successfully able to reform the country economically and socially within only five years. He was bold in these reforms because he knows very well that the vast majority of the Saudi population, who are under the age of 30, are supportive of these social and economic reforms (this was not the case 10 years ago, as the majority of the Saudi people were conservative).
He launched the kingdom’s Vision 2030, through which we were able to achieve the following:
Women were given their full legal rights.
Diversified the Saudi economy away from oil (non-oil revenues are now 48% of the annual budget).
Opened up the country for foreign tourism and investment (for the first time since 30 years ago).
Curbed the power of radical clerics.
Adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards radicalism.
Led a top-down corruption crackdown campaign (billions were retrieved to the Saudi economy).
Launched mega projects to develop the tourism sector such as the Red Sea Islands, NEOM, Amaala, Qiddea, etc.
A lot is still to come, but there is a sense of excitement among the young Saudis that finally Saudi Arabia can close its 30-years long chapter of being closed to the world, and hope for a bright future.
