There is lack of good leaders not just in India but around the world.
But if we were to just look at the Indian context you will see leaders lack several things.
The most important thing is probably creating better leaders. Unfortunately we are unable to create good leaders.
The reason could simply be the ability of leaders to coach & mentor others. Investing time & effort in creating better leaders is most important. Maybe we dont have the time or intent.
Putting others before themselves is probably very tough but can create better leaders for sure.
Emotional quotient is probably very important to become a good leader. Understanding people well & also getting into their shoes can make leaders become better leaders.
Having the right vision is tough in a dynamic world & predicting the future is even tougher. Most Leaders lack this.
Last but not the least when we struggle to change fast we dont keep pace with the changing times. This is where leaders or human beings struggle the most.
