I have had all kinds of managers.
I learnt a lot from the first kind. Lets call him/her the critic. Critics can either make you or break you.
The managers who constantly keep pushing you will always keep you uncomfortable. You will learn more with them. Lets call him/her the pusher.
Managers who coach & support you can enable you to become better. They can help you grow faster. Lets call him/her the coach.
Managers who give you challenging roles can put your career on the fast track. This is probably all you need in your career to become successful. If it comes too soon you can fail too.
