1. There is a gender bias 2. Men negotiate salaries better 3. Men work longer hours 4. Men have higher qualifications
As per the last Monster Salary Index survey 2019, male employees get paid 19% more than female employees.
Probably the simplest reason is gender bias. Our society is a male dominated society. With a minority population of women at workplace, it is probably the men who decide salaries.
The other reason could be that men are able to negotiate salaries better than women.
It could also be that since there are more men at workplace hence the probability of a lady being paid equal is less.
Men work longer hours hence they may be paid more. But really is this true? Also do longer work hours translate to better performance?
In most MBA programs we have less than 20% women. The same is probably the case with most pg programs. Hence men have better qualifications, so, command better salaries?
Is it also about us men supporting women? Is it also about our women short changing themselves?
