1. Lack of relevant skills 2. Poor quality of education 3. Lack of right values & behaviors 4. Unreasonable expectations
Every company is struggling to find good talent in India. Why is this such a big challenge?
For every job opening, of the 100 CVs we receive only 25 have the relevant skills. Of the 25 when we speak to them hardly 5 people fit the bill. Of these 5 the hiring manager likes 2-3, when the hiring manager speaks to them only one seems to fit the bill. That one person when offered does not join. The process has to start again. This is the story of hiring talent in India
Also the quality of talent has gone down over the years.
Corporate India is struggling for talent this is despite the millions of graduates every year coming out from our education system. Many of these graduates are sadly unemployable. Our education system is still unable to produce people with their right behaviors.
Earlier people who did not have the skills were willing to work hard. Many millennial are not wanting to work hard, the right value systems and behaviors are probably missing.
Those who have the skills come up with unreasonable expectations.
The millennial want it quick & fast. But the story does not add up somewhere there is clearly a demand supply mismatch. Finding good talent in India is like finding a needle in a haystack.
This is based on my experience of last 20 yrs both hiring for other firms & for our organisation. Poorly written CVs, poor communication skills, lack of attention to detail, poor behaviors/values are so common. But the biggest bummer is skills are missing. Also many of them are not trainable too. And if you train them they run away soon..
