1. Earning 2. Learning 3. Yearning (Passion)
Careers based on earning work for the short term. They are shortened & finish off fast. Here career decisions are based on money. It is single dimensional. In my early career I was here. It limits the career.
Careers based on Learning go on longer. Here career decisions are taken based on learning. It works well for the mid term. It gives you a reason to move forward. After you have learnt something then you have to look for another reason to learn. After sometime you may not have a learning reason left. In my mid career I was here. After a few years learning goes away.
Careers based on yearning (passion) go on for the longest. This is a meaning or purpose for why you are pursuing something. The earning or learning may go but yearning remains. You can go on forever with this. As an entrepreneur I am driven by yearning. It is something that makes you go on & on. It is rare for someone pursuing yearning. Interestingly with yearning comes learning & earning at a time
