Work is worship for some people. I think it boils down to the person & the values of the person.
If we are not grateful for the money we make which puts food on the table it will just be work. We wont put our heart & soul into it.
I wake up every morning to do my job with joy. The day I don't have joy I have gratefulness. The day I don't have gratefulness I take it as my duty. The day I don't take it as my duty I remember the days when I dreamt to have the job I have today. Now this is tough but I strive everyday towards it. This very thought pulls me up from bed every morning.
For me I cant do just another job. I just cant treat work as just work. Then I wont be able to push myself and do better than I did yesterday. I wont be passionate about what I do. The work I do is sacred for me. It is both my identity and also what I leave behind for my next generation & so I strive to do better each day.
If you are in it only for the money, yes you will lose the interest, the joy & passion to do it. When I used to work as an employee I would be first to get to office because I always wanted to put my best foot forward every single day. That’s what my mom taught me - which passes to heaven in this January 2022.
Work is my duty. There isn't any expectation from it. We have to give before we can get.
Imagine if the soldier thought the way you do. What would happen to the nation. Imagine if the farmer thought this way, what would happen to the food you eat. Imagine if a doctor thought this way, there will be several sick people in this world.
Work for me is not just a means to earn money. It is for me a way to impact people with my work. A way to make a difference in the lives of so many people I touch. Money is just a by product. We should not waste 8 hours of our day doing something we don't like. Also money will never give eternal joy it will only give momentary pleasure. But work well done will give us joy forever. At least that is what I experience each day.
The secret I learnt is passion is within not outside. But sadly most people are looking for passion outside.
